our Story

A true taste of Northern Michigan.

Three Barn Farm was born of a vision that began over 50 years ago. George and Barb Cochran, the husband and wife founders of Three Barn Farm, spent summers as kids with their families near Glen Lake in Leelanau County, Michigan. Here, amid the deep woods and clear waters, they formed a bond with the land that they would one day share and celebrate with friends and family.

After retiring from professional careers, the Cochrans purchased acreage that would comprise Three Barn Farm. They first planted apples and peaches here in 2010. Today, the farm grows both fresh market and cider apples as well as saskatoons; which are growing in popularity as one of the industry’s most robust “super fruits”. The cider apples are primarily sold to local cideries, which make use of their exceptional flavor for their handcrafted hard ciders. Fresh cider is also crafted and sold at the farmstand.
